A mom is not only seeing her baby girl achieve major milestones but is learning how to be a better teacher for her daughter with the help of The Warren Center.
Dayana was born with Down syndrome, along with a myriad of health issues in her stomach, neck, and heart. As Dayana grew, she demonstrated delays in her motor, language, and cognitive development. Her parents received a recommendation about The Warren Center from their doctor and got Dayana evaluated around 14 months. They were connected with Sagrario, an early intervention specialist, and hit it off immediately.
Since then, Sagrario has been working with Dayana on her motor development, exercises, and sounds. She has made large progress in areas such as sitting up from lying down, crawling, and babbling.
Sagrario also helped guide Dayana’s mother to be a “better mom, therapist, helper, and teacher for Dayana,” and helped include Dayana’s father and two daughters in her therapy progress. This is so important because the therapists only have a couple of visits a week if that, so a support system is vital for growth. Getting families and close friends able to support children, such as Dayana, is vital as it allows her therapy to continue outside of the scheduled visits with Sagrario.
Today, Dayana is a social, happy child and is persistent on getting around on her own. Her whole family is delighted with her progress and gets excited about her growth each visit. The Warren Center is ecstatic by Dayana’s growth, and shares in the family’s happiness. Stories such as her’s are what inspire The Warren Center to keep giving each day!
