Prairie Lights

Prairie Lights at Joe Pool Lake is always a top spot to check out for lights during the holiday season. You’ll drive through 4 million lights in the 2 mile stretch and halfway through get a chance to stop for more Christmas fun at the Holiday Village where there’s food, gifts, Santa, an indoor laser show, and the Holiday magic Walk-Through Forest. Once back in your car, the second half of the drive ends in their famous animated light tunnel that is a perfect way to give your Instagram feed some holiday cheer. Admission starts at $25 per car, so fill yours with all of your friends and family and head out to Lynn Creek Park starting at 6 pm every night.
Highland Park Village

If you’re looking for a more traditional [and free] holiday lights experience, Highland Park Village and the Highland Park neighborhood are sure to deliver. Both the village and the surrounding neighborhood go all out for their holiday decorations and by driving around (or walking, if you’re brave), you’ll be able to see beautiful houses with beautiful lights on them. Starting at the corner of Armstrong and Preston is usually the best bet and you can make your way around the neighborhood however you please. If you start at Highland Park Village, you can get a warm beverage to bring with you and hop on a horse-drawn carriage if that’s more your style.
Deerfield Holiday Lights

The Deerfield neighborhood in Plano is another neighborhood that does the most for the holiday season. Residents of Deerfield aim to make their neighborhood as festive as possible during the month of December and most homes turn their lights on from 7pm until 10 pm. It’s free to walk or drive through the neighborhood, though every year they love for visitors to make a donation to Children’s Medical Center in Deerfield’s name. This neighborhood’s festive spirit first began as a community competition when it had just been built, but now families decorate for the fun of it. Turn on your favorite holiday tunes and check out Deerfield’s jolly homes.
Interlochen Lights

This year is the 42nd anniversary of the Interlochen Lights in Arlington. Beginning December 15, through Christmas Day this neighborhood lights up their homes and have been named “Texas Best” Christmas Lights (as voted by the viewers of the Texas Country Reporter TV Show). Start your drive at the intersection of Randol Mill Rd and Westwood Dr for a free self-tour of this festive neighborhood.
Vitruvian Lights
