Cap and Gown: Graduates will be issued a cap and gown to use during the ceremony. They will be returned afterwards. Your child might not want to wear the cap and gown. That is okay and not required. It is much better to have happy children. Here are some ideas to help your child get acquainted with wearing the cap and gown:
- Show pictures of children wearing caps and gowns
- Pretend play with other hats and robes and take turns wearing the items.
- Show pictures of family members who have worn caps and gowns for their graduations.
Procedure: Please check in at the tables in the lobby. Once you sign in and receive the cap and gown, you will be ushered into the auditorium for seating. Once the ceremony begins, one parent and the graduate will to walk up to the stage to receive their diploma and take a graduation photo. The other family members will find a seat in the auditorium and watch the graduation ceremony. Once your graduate has walked across the stage, they will return to their seat in the audience and wait until the entire ceremony is complete.
At the end of the ceremony, light refreshments are served in the lobby where you will also be able to pick up a complimentary commemorative photo of your graduate and their official graduation diploma. Before leaving, you will return the cap and gown.
