Yuriana began in The Warren Center’s Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) program around one year ago and has made remarkable progress.
Yuriana started in the ECI program due to her inability to walk independently. The Warren Center worked with Yuriana along with her mother to learn strategies and information on how to get on track developmentally. In three months, Yuriana could walk all by herself. Her mother, Gabriel, has been continuing to work to foster Yuriana’s gross motor skills by having her go up and down stairs and kicking a ball.
Additionally, Yuriana began specialized skills training services with early intervention specialist, Lily Johnson, to work on communication and behavior. SST is a developmental service focused on cognitive, behavioral, and social skills as part of Early Childhood Intervention therapy. The Warren Center follows a parent-coach model, meaning that therapists and early intervention specialists, such as Lily, encourage parents to take a hands-on approach and be a part of their children’s therapeutic growth.
Yuriana’s mother has noted that “ECI has been a huge support in providing her with strategies and information on how to help Yuriana reach her milestones.”
Yuriana has an older brother with autism, which caused her mother to worry due to the differences in the therapy needs of her two children. Her mother has mentioned that not only has The Warren Center helped with Yuriana, but has helped connect the mom with with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and therapy services for her son.
Within the past two months, Yuriana has progressed to saying five words and is beginning to imitate gestures and make sounds! She continues to make great strides in all areas, and her mother is ” feels excited for the progress that Yuriana is making.”
